Robert is a former commercial diver, and diving over 200 feet to recover wreckage or repair oil rigs and working in compression chambers at depths of 1200 feet taught him a lot about keeping grace under pressure and paying attention to every detail. It also reinforced his belief that challenges are simply opportunities in disguise. “The hours were long, the physical demands were incredible and the working situations weren’t always safe,” he says. “But at the end of the day—or sometimes night—it was extremely rewarding knowing you pushed yourself to the limit and succeeded in your goals.”

Robert’s determined approach and thirst for adventure have been evident throughout his life. He was a Golden Gloves amateur welter-weight boxer as a teenager, and went on to become a police search and recovery diver in the harsh conditions of Buffalo, New York and commercial diver all over the world. Even his current hobbies, which include sea kayaking and skydiving, suit his adventurous spirit.

Just Add Water
Robert got his first real taste of adventure at age 14 when he learned to scuba dive. Born and raised in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, he’s always been enthralled by water, and his diving career took him on adventures across the globe. Robert’s love for the water, especially the ocean, eventually led him to Santa Cruz, California, where he began what would end up being a long-running career in real estate.
